Shall we meet at Gran Vía Metro?

Gran Vía, the second most visited street in 2023 according to the real estate agency Cushman & Wakefield, is a must-see in Madrid for both locals and visitors.

And how could it not be? From Alcalá to Plaza de España , there are 1,320 metres of imposing architecture, important flagship stores , vibrant cultural life, local characters and fascinating stories that have been a source of inspiration for writers, artists and filmmakers. The so-called " Spanish Broadway " is an icon of the Madrid lifestyle.

The painter María Simavilla fills herself with energy walking down Gran Vía on each of her visits to Madrid. On these short walks, she always takes the Metro to be on time. It is there, at the exit of the Gran Vía Metro where she meets everyone, because “she can’t get lost”, she meets and reconnects with loved ones whom she “sees less than she would like”.

The artist's affection, a beautiful project with MetroMadrid and our desire to pay double tribute to the Metro and Gran Vía , came together to create the new print THE MADRILEÑER: MEETING POINT (Metro Gran Vía).

The central axis is a love story at the Gran Vía Metro intersection.

There, a young man in love surprises his girlfriend with a huge bouquet of flowers while time stands still. Hundreds of things are happening around, families going for a walk, tourists, a well-known influencer waiting for a call. The famous skater who stole the hearts of the Spanish people or the well-known “ Heavy of Gran Vía ” who goes out to meet his brother.

No one realizes that lovers may or may not be real... Could they be a figment of the imagination of the elderly couple who see the story of their life pass before their eyes?

We'll have to find out for ourselves.
